If there’s one thing I learned from reading Koe no Katachi so far, it’s how much your life could change just from meeting one person.
Shouya has changed so much just from meeting with Shouko that one time. He literally convinced himself to back out of his original plan to commit suicide after meeting with her again, simply because he wanted to change and be a better person.
He didn’t really have a plan on how he was going to do it, but he knew it was going to be centered around Nishimiya. He wanted to give her the memories of what could’ve been, and now is, from their sixth grade life.
This is what was acknowledged in these last two chapters.
Though he’d had a little spat with Nagatsuka, he was actually glad that he even had someone to argue with over something like that. Can you imagine that? Being so happy just to argue with someone.
Let’s not forget, the reason why Shouya even met Nagatsuka in the circumstance they met in was because of Shouko. Had he not seen her he wouldn’t went through with his original plan, thus preventing him from meeting Nagatsuka.
He may not think so, but I think Shouya has grown a lot. He definitely values friendship a lot more now, and you can tell genuinely cares about everyone. Maybe not Ueno, but I don’t blame him. She slapped my daughter, and there is no going back from that.
Thanks for reading!!
